After more than four decades in the tourism industry, train tour specialist, JB Train Tours, has decided to close.
CEO, Johan Badenhorst, said after long discussion and meetings concerning alternative plans, the decision had been made for operations to close on February 15.
In a press release, Badenhorst said it was inevitable, ”unless an energetic entrepreneur would like to continue this successful business!”. He told Tourism Update that the company had received interest from entrepreneurs, including some existing tour operators.
“We have handed it over to our business sales consultant to take care of the matter. There is still a big interest in train tours in Southern Africa but unfortunately some services rendered by the main service provider, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, are not up to the standard customers expect and deserve.”
Clients who have booked and paid with JB Train Tours for upcoming tours in 2020 will be fully compensated.
Many of their clients took to their Facebook page to share their sadness at the news of the closure as well as expressing gratitude for all the memorable train tours and excellent customer service JB Train Tours had given over the years.
